Directory and List of ALL Community and Technical Colleges
Community colleges are two-year institutions that are also referred to as technical colleges. The term 'community college' is derived from the fact that they mainly attract and accept students from the local community. These institutions are often regarded as less prestigious than universities, although community colleges offer many of the same courses found in the freshman and sophomore curricula of universities. Generally people who cannot afford to go to college full-time find that a community college is better adapted to suit their needs. All community colleges offer an associate's degrees in a variety of academic majors. Community colleges are significantly less expensive per credit hour than public or private four-year schools.
